In the course of the European copyright reform, the EU Parliament in Strasbourg on July 9, 2015 fended off an attack on the so-called Panorama Freedom. The MEPs voted with an overwhelming majority against an extension of copyright law.
What does this mean?
“Citizens in most countries can continue to post selfies and view famous buildings in Wikipedia without worries,” said Julia Reda, the responsible rapporteur in the EU Parliament.
Since Mrs. Reda was born in Bonn, one might not hold it against her that she does not explicitly mention the cathedral. For every reader it should be said: A selfie in front of the cathedral is and remains allowed.
